Boardman’s Wagner rolling for history this weekend

Boardman junior Jake Wagner secured his spot as one of 16 individuals to qualify for the state bowling tournament in Columbus this Friday. Wagner bowled a 619 series at the Akron regional to qualify for the event. He will roll three games Friday morning, and hopes to make it a personal best.

“I am feeling good about it right now,” said Wagner. “I expect some nerves maybe when I get there. Right now, I’m just enjoying it, I’ve been practicing some to prepare for it. It’s been a good ride, so I want to keep it going.”

While his team didn’t make it to the finals, Wagner is excited to represent Boardman at Wayne Webbs in Columbus.  He averages 218 this season, and rolled a personal best 287 at Boardman Lanes this week.

Wagner is the first Boardman bowler to make it to the state tournament since 2010. He is a three year letter winner and part of the two time Federal League Championship teams in 2013-14. Outside the alley, Wagner is also a 4.0 student.
