Mooney uses fast start to down Canfield

Cardinal Mooney started the game on a 16-3 run, and held on in the second half for a 60-50 victory over Canfield in the Division II District Semifinals.

The Cardinals led 25-10 at halftime, and were up 43-27 after three quarters.

Mooney was led by Andrew Armstrong and Joe Cunningham, with 15 points apiece. Mark Handel also added 11.

Three Canfield players scored in double figures, including Cole Pryjma and Brady Clark with 11. Andrew Midgley chipped in 10 for Canfield, whose season comes to an end.

#3 Mooney will face top seeded Poland in the District Finals this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Warren Harding High School.
