County will try again to sell annex

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Mahoning County Commissioners are hoping the second attempt at selling off the county’s old South Side Annex will be more successful than the first.

Commissioners agreed to hire a local firm to sell the building at auction next month. The event will be held April 11 at  11 a.m., with a walk-through for potential bidders on April 4.

The starting bid will be $75,000.

Commissioners tried to sell the annex last year, but none of the bids met the county’s requirements. The building was appraised at $640,000 and the bid needed to be at least two-thirds of that.

Warriors, Inc., which operates a local preschool, offered $75,000 for the building in November, but commissioners hoped to get at least $100,000.

The building was vacated last year when the county moved its agencies into the Oak Hill Renaissance Place.
