Warren NAACP hosts Unity celebration

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Adults in Trumbull County want young men and women to know they support them.

The NAACP in Warren hosted its first community UNITY celebration tonight.

Area youth entertained guests with performances…there was also a band and soul food dinner.

Proceeds from tonight’s benefit the youth chapter, and help find scholarships and pay for college visits.

There’s a big push for education among NAACP leaders.

“We see education as a way to always better yourself. There’s no such thing as too much education. It gives you a great start and it will carry you  all the way through to the rest of your life. You’re never too old to learn anything,” said Rev. William Penn, VP, NAACP Trumbull County.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
