Niles GE plant sees demolition

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) — Demolition is moving right along at the old General Electric plant in Niles.

The North Main Street structure is just one of the company’s former locations to either close or be demolished.

Among those are a former lamp plant on West Market Street in Warren, one on the lower South Side of Youngstown and one in Ravenna.

Also, earlier this year, workers voted to close the company’s longtime Dana Street plant in Warren.

Demolition in Niles began earlier this year. It is expected to be complete this spring.
