ATF Agent involved in Beaver Township crash

An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is in the hospital after a bad crash Tuesday morning in Beaver Township.

It happened a little after 9 a.m. along South Avenue Extension near Calla Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said Agent Robert Miller was northbound when his car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a truck.

The car’s engine broke away from the rest of the vehicle on impact.

As medics tended to Miller’s injuries, officials said other agents arrived at the scene to recover his weapons and other gear from the car’s trunk. Investigators still don’t know what caused Miller to lose control. Miller is being treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
