Farrell outlasts Uniontown in OT

Farrell held off Uniontown 86-72 in overtime in the Second Round of the PIAA Class AAA State Playoffs Tuesday night.

The Steelers led by as many as 9 in the fourth quarter, but the Red Raiders roared back to tie the game late.  Farrell had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation, but misses the potential game-winning shot to send the game to the extra session.

A total of five Uniontown player fouled out in the game, allowing Farrell to pull away in overtime.

Jamel Brown led Farrell with a game-high 23 points, while Ike Jones added 20.  Chris James also reached double-figures with 16.  Clifton McNair added 8 points off the bench.  Tyrone Archie tallied 8 points in the victory, while Malik Miller chipped in with 7.

The Steelers now advance to the Elite 8 in the State of Pennsylvania, and are now three wins away from the program’s eighth state title.

Farrell, which improves to 24-3, advances to face Central Valley in the State Quarterfinals at a neutral site to be determined.
