Pitt’s set for ACC Tournament

The Panthers began the season with a 16-1 mark. Since January 27; however, Pitt has posted an even 7-7 record. With that said, Jamie Dixon’s group has lost 6 games by 5-points or less. The Panthers earned a much needed 83-78 win on the road at Clemson to end the regular season with an 11-7 conference record. Despite their lack luster ranking of 74th in strength of schedule, the Panthers currently have an RPI of 45 and have wins over Stanford, NC State and a pair against Clemson to their credit.

Now Pitt will begin their quest for their first-ever ACC Championship as they begin play on Thursday at 2 PM against winner of Wake Forest/Notre Dame from Greensboro, North Carolina. Dating back to their years in the Big East, Pitt has won 20 of its’ last 32 conference tournament games.

The Panthers (23-8) are almost a lock for the NCAA Tournament as CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm currently has Pitt as an #11 seed in his bracketology.
