Boy, 11, dies in Portage shooting

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a late Wednesday morning shooting that left an 11-year-old boy dead.

Sheriff David Doak said the shooting occurred about 11:30 a.m. at 695 Johnson Road in Franklin Township, which is between Ravenna and Kent. The boy was already dead when deputies arrived.

The shooter also was a juvenile and is cooperating with the investigation, Doak said. The Ohio BCI is assisting with the investigation.

Doak said no further information, including the juveniles’ names, are being released because of the ongoing probe.
