YSU Board of trustees serving as its own search committee for president

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — In the interest of time and money, the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees will serve as its own search committee to pick the university’s ninth president.

Board chairman Dr. Sudershan Garg said in a news release they vow to be transparent, and will seek input from people on campus and in the community. He also said that as in the past, final candidates for the position will visit campus, meet with various groups and hold open forums.

He said everyone on campus and in the community will be invited to attend the meetings and provide feedback to the board.

AGB Search, the firm appointed by the board to help conduct the national search process, began advertising for the position this week.

The board’s tentative timeline calls for preliminary interviews with a short list of candidates by the end of April and campus visits for final candidates by mid-May. The university hopes to have a new president in place by July 1.

Last year, a 17-member search committee recommended hiring Dr. Randy Dunn.

Dunn’s last day at YSU is March 21.
