West Middlesex’s run comes to an end

A thirteen point halftime deficit proved too much for West Middlesex, as they fell 73-57 in the Second Round of the PIAA State Tournament Thursday.

Greensburg Central Catholic (AA) got off to a 20-14 start  in the first quarter, and continued to build their lead throughout the second half.

The Big Reds were led by Trey Staunch with 18 points. Josh Porterfield added 16, and Isaac Willams scored 15 for the Big Reds, whose season comes to an end with a 21-5 record.

Billy Hipp scored a game-high 22 points for the winners, while Brian Graytok (17) and Christian Hyland (15) also turned in big games.

Greensburg CC (24-3) will move on to play Beaver Falls (20-7) in the quarterfinals this Saturday.
