Museum celebrates Pi Day

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Friday was Pi Day at the Oh Wow! Children’s Museum in downtown Youngstown.

The event marked Albert Einstein’s birthday and 3.14, which makes up the number known as Pi. The day was filled with fun and educational activities.

About 100 children and their families filled the museum, where many of the displays centered around math and science.

“We say it is Pi Day because 3.14 are the digits of Pi. It is a really cool number because it is irrational and it goes on forever. We’re exploring some of the quirkiness of the number Pi,” said Audra Carlson, education manager for the Oh Wow! museum.

Anyone who brought a pie to the museum on Friday got $3.14 off the admission price. All pies will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
