SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) — A new, $20 million dollar medical office building is being built in the city of Sharon, which will bring a number of new jobs to the area.
“It will enable us to move all of our existing medical behavioral health and other practices that are in the city of Sharon down in one location,” said Drew Pierce, chief financial officer for Primary Health Network.
Pierce said the new building will be a one-stop shop for patients, offering all of the services they need, including physician services, behavioral health services and obstetrics/gynecology.
The new facility will be located on Vine Avenue and Pitt Street. Primary Health will be tearing down its administrative building and the adjacent building to make room for the project.
They also are blocking off Vine Avenue from Silver Street to Pitt street.
The project is the first commercial structure to be built in Sharon since 1969. City Manager Scott Andrejchak said the new facility will help breathe new life into the area.
“It’s a great thing for the city of Sharon. It’s a great development. It’s great because it’s really making us a regional health care provider.
The medical office will have about 150 employees. Some of those jobs will be new and some are existing. The facility will create 30 to 50 new jobs.
Construction on the five-story facility is scheduled to start the end of the year. The office should be open by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
