Car accident leaves one dead and one injured

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a car accident that killed a woman and injured a man late Friday.

According to the patrol, Brooke Penick, 25, and Stephen W. Bell, 27, both of Salem were traveling east on U.S. Route 62 when their 1999 Chevrolet Lumina lost control, struck a ditch and overturned.

Penick was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Bell was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center with serious injuries.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected in the crash.
