Cleveland man shot to death in Wellsville

WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) — A Cleveland-area man died Tuesday evening after being shot several times while sitting in an SUV on Clover Alley.

Police said someone opened fire on Taru Smith, 36, of Lorain. They are still looking for the shooter.

Smith was among three people arrested July 11 during a drug raid on Commerce Street in Wellsville. He was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a previous charge of marijuana possession.

Smith was scheduled for trial next week on drug-related charges.
