LORAIN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man wanted for questioning in a fatal shooting in Wellsville was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Cleveland.
David Morales, 29, was arrested Thursday in Lorain on a parole violation and also on a charge of narcotic possession out of Pennsylvania. Morales is also wanted for questioning by Wellsville police in connection to the March 18 shooting death of Taru Smith, 36, of Lorain.
Smith was shot while he sat in an SUV on Clover Alley in Wellsville.
Morales was named to the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Dangerous Dozen” list last month. An anonymous tip led them to the residence in Lorain where they found Morales hiding in a bathroom.
He is currently in the Lorain City Jail awaiting a court hearing to determine when he will be turned over to Columbiana County authorities.
Morales was released from the Lorain Correction Institution in December where he served a two-year sentence for drug trafficking.
