County renews recycling deal with YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County has renewed its recycling contract with Youngstown State University.

The deal was confirmed Friday during a meeting of the county board of commissioners.

The contract will provide recycling infrastructure for the university as well as having leftover food composted into reusable material for themselves and other businesses.

Green Team Director Louie Vega said the relationship between the school and the county has been great.

“They provide all the recycling inside the campus buildings. They provide that publicly available drop-off site, maintain it, and keep it debris free as well as this program that encompasses businesses throughout Northeast Ohio,” Vega said.

The contract is worth $64,000.
