Signing up for Affordable Care Act continues in valley

Health care open enrollment in Youngstown, Ohio

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) — The clock is winding down for folks to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

There’s only nine days until the March 31 deadline. Today folks were receiving help enrolling at the Eastwood Mall Community room. Officials with Access Health Mahoning Valley say they expect about 75 people to complete the process there today. This event is only one of several scheduled in the upcoming days leading up to when enrollment closes.

“It points out that there’s a need, you know, we’ve known that since we started doing enrollments, we know that there are thousands, tens of thousands of people in Mahoning and Trumbull county who are uninsured and so we’ve been helping over the course of months, but of course as the deadline approaches people see the need to do it,” said Bill Adams, a director of Access Health Mahoning Valley.

State Senator Capri Cafaro is scheduled to be at tomorrow’s enrollment event at the Ashtabula Health Care Office.

It runs from 1 p.m.- 6 p.m.
