Two women honored with highest cadet honor

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Two local civil air patrol cadets are the recipients of the highest cadet honor.

Generals were brought to town to present Cadet Colonels Megan Beatty and Auby Lindeaur with their award.

The general Carl Spaatz Award is given to cadets who show excellent leadership, character and aerospace education.

Only two out of every one-thousand cadets are named award recipients.

We the chance to speak to both ladies about what the award means to them.

“It makes you appreciate definitely a lot of the work that others have put into me as a person, and I definitely appreciate  all of the mentorship that I have received from others. I agree with everything because it wasn’t just one of us we kind of raced each other all the way, so that really helped I think probably helped the both of us out and  then had a lot of really great people helping us out, so it’s a huge honor,” said Cadets Megan Beatty and Aubry Lindauer, award recipients.

Cadet Beatty joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2010.

Cadet Lindaeur joined in 2009.
