2 injured in Goshen Township crash

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — Two Salem men were injured in a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Garfield Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jonathan Shellenberger, 24, was driving west on Garfield Road between Seacrist Road and Route 534 when he went left of center and then traveled off the right side of the road, striking a telephone pole on the passenger side of the 1998 Chrysler Sebring.

Shellenberger was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was listed in stable condition Monday night.

His passenger, Anthony Colon, 23, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Damascus Fire Department, the patrol said. He was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s, where he was listed in critical condition.

The crash is still under investigation.
