Two of the top basketball players in the area were honored Monday at the 27th Annual Trumbull County Basketball Banquet. LaBrae’s Peyton Aldridge and Lakeview’s Alli Pavlik were named Players of the Year in the county after outstanding senior seasons.
Aldridge was a four year letterwinner, and averaged 21.9 ppg, 14.3 reb, 4.7 asst, 4 blks for the Vikings this season. He was named 1st Team All-Ohio, 1st Team AAC, and was a McDonald’s All American Nominee. Aldridge has been honored by WYTV as Student Athlete of the Week, and a My Valley Sports Starting 5 recipient. This fall, he will attend Davidson College on a full ride scholarship.
“It’s a great honor for the opportunity to be in this room with all these great players,” said Aldridge. ” Just to be selected is a great honor. I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet. It will hit me soon. It’s just a great feeling what I’ve accomplished.”
On the girls side, Alli Pavlik led the Bulldogs by averaging 26.9 ppg 3.8 asst, and 6.2 steals a game. She helped Lakeview to a 22-3 record, and a trip to the District Semifinals. She’s also a four year letterwinner in soccer and apart of the National Honors Society. Pavlik was the leading scorer in Trumble county this season.
“It just shows the type of player my coaches have made me become and the player I am now,” commented Pavlik. “I couldn’t have done anything without them. I’m glad I get to represent my community. I wouldn’t want to play for anybody else. It’s a great honor. It shows how much work I’ve put in this season, and it’s paid off.”
Pavlik will opt to play soccer at the next level. This fall she will attend Ohio Dominican as a Business Major and a member of the women’s soccer team.
