ATHENS, Ohio – Jason Shirley tallied 3 hits in 4 at bats with 3 RBIs in YSU’s 11-4 win this afternoon over Ohio. Shirley also reached base on a walk and scored 2 runs. David Saluga and Brent Gillespie each had two base hits apiece. YSU scored all 11 runs in the last five innings.

The Penguins utilized six pitchers (Brendon Shoemake, Jared Wright, Anthony Konders, Alex Frey, Josh North, Kevin Yarabinec), all who threw 35 pitches or less.

Ohio’s center fielder Mitch Longo finished 3 for 4 from the plate with 2 runs scored. The Bobcats drop to 4-17 with a three-game set on the horizon at Western Michigan over the weekend.

The Penguins improve to 3-14. Friday, YSU returns to action when they will make a trip to Butler, Pennsylvania to take on Wright State at Kelly Automotive Park (12 PM).
