WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Trumbull County Commissioners on Wednesday approved plans for two buildings to house county offices.

Commissioners entered into an agreement with Baker, Bednar Snyder and Associates to establish a master plan on utilizing the Talmer Bank building on East Market Street and Pine Avenue.  The building  will house several offices, including the planning commission, building department and records department, which currently are located in the Wean Building on North Park Avenue.

Last month, commissioners approved the purchase of the former Talmer Bank building for $750,000. Once the county moves offices out of the Wean Building, commissioners will apply for a grant to remove the asbestos inside and then have it torn down.

They also entered into an agreement with Phillips/Sekanick Architects, Inc. of Warren to design the new Veterans Services Commission building on East Market Street in Warren. That project is expected to cost between $400,000 and $500,000.

“We are trying to put it on a fast track and keep things moving. We have a goal of 12 months, so hopefully we will do that,” said Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka.
