Fire damages Youngstown west side duplex

Brockway fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Several fire trucks were called to a duplex on North Brockway Avenue in Youngstown Thursday morning to investigate a fire.

A passerby saw the fire and alerted a sleeping couple next door to the danger. Angela Montes would like to thank that person.

“Thank you. Whoever you are, thank you and God bless you because without him stopping, we would have been in the fire right now. It would have come over to our side. It was just over the top of our heads,” said Montes.

The people who live in the part of the duplex where the fire started were not home at the time. The fire caused significant damage to the second and third floors.

A dog was also rescued from the home.

A cause has not been determined.
