Commissioners honor Niles officials

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Commissioners honored two Niles officials for their accomplishments in establishing a transit system.

A resolution was presented Friday morning to Niles Mayor Ralph Infante and Niles Grant and Development Coordinator Mark Hess for their work in developing and operating a transit system in the city and then transitioning it to the Trumbull County Transit System.

“When the mayor thought about this back in 2003, you know he approached this as a county system from the beginning,” said Hess. “We have had a lot of tremendous partners.”

Hess has acted as adviser to the transit system since it transitioned from the city to the county, but he will step down Monday. He said the transfer to the county has taken up a lot of his time and he still works full-time for the city of Niles.
