EGCC looking to expand in Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Eastern Gateway Community College plans to increase its presence in Warren.

According to Ann Koon, director of public information, the school is looking at locations in downtown Warren.

EGCC has a branch on West Market Street on Courthouse Square. Koon said the expansion would let the school increase its course offerings as well as serve more students.

The expansion could also mean more teaching jobs.

School officials hope to announce where they plan to expand within the month.

The Warren site has about 200 students. There are about 2,800 students across its seven campuses.

EGCC was recently named one of the fastest growing colleges in the nation.

The American Association of Community Colleges now ranks the school as the 16th-fastest growing college in its respective category.

Eastern Gateway gets recognition

The college currently offers more than 15 different associate degree programs, including criminal justice, teaching and nursing, and continues to add more.
