Groups turns vacant lot into garden

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A group of friends is making it their mission to clean up an empty lot in Warren.

The space on Mercer Street is the future home for the Peace of Hope Garden. Saturday, folks were picking up gravel, sorting trash, and moving branches to prepare to till and mow.

Rachel Dunn organized the cleanup. She hopes more people get involved with the project because it is in their community.

“I grew up on the next street, and you can see it is the last white one over there and they are tearing all those houses down,” said Dunn. I was kind of tired of looking at all the green lots, so I put something beautiful here.”

Dunn said she is just trying to do her part in sprucing up the city.
