COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio (WKBN) — Work on the new grandstand at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds is expected to begin soon.
According to the Morning Journal newspaper, crews have been working through the winter to prepare the site.
The more than 150-year-old grandstand was demolished in December. The fair board just needs the state’s approval to start construction, possibly in mid-April.
The new grandstand will be named for lifelong county resident Arnold Green.
The Green Family Trust donated $300,000, and Columbiana County Commissioners kicked in $20,000 for the $900,000 project. Work should be done in June, in plenty of time for the fair which runs July 28 through Aug. 3.
