Passion story performed at Youngstown church

YSU performs Passion music

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) —  A modern premiere of a song made a smooth crescendo into a Youngstown church on Monday.

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Passion according to St. Luke was performed by Youngstown State University faculty, students and other artists. The event, held at Trinity United Methodist Church, celebrated the 145th anniversary of YSU’s Dana School of Music and the 300th birthday of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

The piece depicts the arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus as told in Luke’s Gospel.

WYSU-FM and the Dana School of Music put on the concert. There was a lecture and reception at V2 after the performance.
