Youngstown, Farrell see wooden-legged-man, donation jar thefts

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio and FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN) — Workers at a Family Dollar store on Glenwood Ave. in Youngstown called police Thursday night, March 27, to report that a man with a wooden leg and burns on his face had stolen various items.

According to the police report, the man fled when confronted by employees.

Mercer Co., Pa., police are investigating the theft of a donation collection jar, from the counter at Citiline Foods, 1158 Fruit Avenue, in Farrell, Pa. around 8:45 p.m. Friday, March 28.

According to a police advisory, a male suspect entered the store, walked up to the counter and said “I’m sorry, but I need this.”

He then struggled with the clerk and took the large jar and ran from the store. The jar was estimated to have about $500 in it. The donations were being collected for a local stroke victim.
