Police arrest two in Youngstown homicide

Breandre and Bralin Allen were indicted on murder charges.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two brothers were arrested in connection to the murder of a man who found dead on a porch on Youngstown’s South Side and are both being held on $1 million cash or surety bond.

Bralin and Breandre Allen are facing an aggravated murder charges in the shooting death of Maurise Kerns, 24.

Detective Brad Blackburn said investigators believe the pair shot Kerns in retaliation for an incident that happened on March 21 where Bralin Allen was shot. Blackburn said the brothers suspected that Kerns was responsible.

Tips from the public helped officers make a quick arrest.

“We were fortunate to get some information. The detectives were out for close to 20 hours straight on the case,” said Blackburn. “We were able with the help of the terms and U.S. Marshal’s Office to make apprehensions.”

If convicted of aggravated murder, the brothers could face the death penalty.
