Canfield event honors deceased veteran

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — An event that has become tradition in Canfield did something new this year.

The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center hosted the “Good Morning Canfield” event Friday morning.

Awards were given to those who have enriched the community.

For the first time, the “Spirit of Canfield Award” was given posthumously, to James Centofanti. The war veteran and philanthropist has a charitable foundation, which also holds his wife’s name, which to this day continues to fund educational and recreational efforts across the Valley.

Canfield law firm Johnson and Johnson received the Business Pride Award. Nils and Eric Johnson are partners at the law firm. Their grandfather founded the company in 1921.
