New bar located in local grocery store

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) — They pack a lot of things into grocery stores these days, but now the first bar has appeared in a supermarket around Youngstown.

Right next to the check out line at the Nemenz IGA in Struthers, you’ll find a bar serving draft beer and wine.

It goes along with the pizza shop that’s in the same area.

Owner Henry Nemenz spoke about his new venture. When he bought the store in 1980, it came with an on premise liquor license.

“Like whole foods for example. They have 90 stores with bars in them. So I thought why can’t Henry Nemenz at Nemenz IGA have a bar in the store since we got the license? So that’s what we did,” said Nemenz.

People are not allowed to walk around the store with a beer in hand. It can only be consumed the area where it’s sold.

As far as Nemenz knows, this is the first supermarket around Youngstown to have a bar, though there are some in Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
