Phantom’s Connor continues record breaking season

The Youngstown Phantoms season comes to a close Saturday, and forward Kyle Connor will go down as the most decorated player in franchise history.

Connor became the team’s all-time single season points leader this March, passing Mike Ambrosia’s total of 65 from the 2012 season.

“It’s a great honor, and a great organization,” said Connor. “Like I said before, Ambrosia, he’s a great player, a great captain. It just means the world to me right now. It’s a great honor to share it with the guys on our team. The guys I’m playing with are really good, so it makes it easy out there.”

After Friday’s 3-1 win over Dubuque, Connor currently has 74 points on the season, with 31 goals and 43 assists. Connor added a goal and an assist in Friday’s win, which moves the Phantoms to 17-36 on the season.

Youngstown wraps up the season Saturday at 7 p.m. against Sioux City at the Covelli Center.
