Displaced fire victims allowed back in building

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) – Some residents displaced by last weekend’s fire at a senior housing complex in Sharpsville are being allowed back into their apartments.

Wade D. Mertz Towers property manager Michalene Koewacich said the residents started going back back to their apartments at noon on Sunday.

All but 22 of the 106 displaced residents can return to their homes.

Koewacich said the remaining 22 will be allowed back in within a few weeks. Those apartments still need to be repaired, but the damage is minimal.

Investigators believe the fire was accidental.
