2 shot, 1 dead in Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a late-night shooting in Warren.

Officers were called just after 11 p.m. Monday to a home in the 900 block of South Street S.E. where they found two people shot multiple times.

Multiple gunshots were fired at both victims.

No one has been charged, and detectives hope to speak with the female survivor to learn more.

James Levels, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lisa Prater, in her 40s, was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital where she is in stable condition. The woman was the one who called 911.

“A female victim was shot, possibly twice. Once in the femur and once in the left arm and a male victim that was shot several times in the chest,” said Warren Police Captain Robert Massucci.

It is unclear how they knew each other.

Police believe the shooting was a home invasion and have not identified a motive or suspects in the case.

Lieutenant Jeff Cole said police are familiar with the house.

“That is part of our investigation to canvass the neighborhood and see if anyone saw anything and we ask that if there is anyone that knows anything to please call the Warren Police Department,” said Cole.

This is Warren’s first homicide of 2014.
