YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mill Creek MetroParks is showing off its new trolley tour.
The Cohasset Express was bought back in September and tours kicked off last month. The tours are seasonal, running from April through October.
The trolley can fit 12 to 14 adults along with a driver and tour guide. It is named after the park’s first body of water.
“We love the idea of the trolley to be able to showcase it in this rolling tour of the MetroParks,” said Community Engagement Director Samantha Villella. “A lot of people don’t know of the MetroParks other than the gardens, the farm, or the Ford Nature Center, so this is a way to encompass education and awareness about the MetroParks and do it in a really cool, neat, different way on a trolley.”
Villella said she would like to not only use the trolley in the park but throughout the community. She said the trolley will stand as a “mobile landmark” for the MetroParks and the community of the Mahoning Valley.
So far, the service has been very popular and tours for April are already sold out but reservations are being accepted for May.
“I think our trolley provides the opportunity to take people who can’t always walk real well and then we know all the nooks and crannies of which the general public may not know,” said Outdoor Education Manager Ray Novotny. “The park can be tricky to find your way around, and we know it like the back of our hands, so we’re really good guides in that respect.”
The Cohasset Express also can be rented for private use.
