Fire cleared in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) – The cause of a massive industrial fire in Greenville remains under investigation.

According to David King, chief of the Hempfield Fire Department, the state fire marshal has been to the scene of the Reynolds Industrial Park fire that destroyed two buildings and damaged others.

The fire is believed to have started in a vacant building.

King said crews were at the scene until 1:40 a.m. Saturday . They returned about 4 a.m. to put out a small fire that rekindled.

At its height, nearly 60 fire crews battled the blaze. The first calls for the fire came in around 6 p.m. Friday.

Shortly after the first crews arrived, calls went out for backup from the other agencies. Crews from as far away as Trumbull County were called to help battle the blaze.

There were no injuries, and the state fire marshal’s office is expected to begin its investigation soon.
