Heart health focus of YSU event

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Red was the color of choice Saturday at a health event for women at Youngstown State University.

The 8th Annual 300 Sisters in Red health fair took place at Kilcawley Center.

The Youngstown Chapter of Linx is the major sponsor of the free event which offers health programs, blood testing and other health screenings for women. The fair also included guest speakers and a luncheon for guests.

“We try to teach them good health habits, and we try to make them aware of all the risk factors that will cause heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and some other diseases,” said Chairperson Dr. Joan L. Boyd.

Other event sponsors included Humility of Mary Health Partners, The American Heart Association, and Anthem Blue Cross.
