Struthers market helps children in need

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Folks in Struthers are using a monthly buy and sell vendor, craft, and indoor flea market to raise money for special needs kids or children in need.

The market takes place on the second Saturday of each month. During the event, a portion of the proceeds from some vendors, and all money raised from a 50/50 raffle go to help a child. This month, the money is going to help Kira.

“She has hydrocephalus. It is a swelling and cerebral fluid in the brain. It causes her to have frequent, unexpected seizures, and she is undergoing a lot of MRIs and surgeries and different x-rays and things like that to try and help her,” said Rose Bush, organizer. “She is 22-months-old, and it has been really hard on her family.”

The group hopes to raise $300. Kira’s family will get to choose the next child of the month.
