Woman jailed in connection to Warren shooting

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A woman who was indicted in connection to an officer-related shooting in Warren is in the Trumbull County Jail.

According to police reports, Regan Jelks, 21, and her boyfriend Taemarr Walker, were in a car accident on Risher Road last October.

Officer Michael Krafcik was called to the scene, and as he approached the car, he noticed a rifle in the back seat, reports state.

Krafcik ordered Walker numerous times to put his hands up and not to move. Instead, Walker lunged under the driver’s seat and grabbed a handgun, reports state. That’s when Krafcik shot Walker five times, killing him.

Jelks is charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts of improperly handling a firearm.

She was booked into the the jail late Friday afternoon after being extradited from Detroit.

Earlier this week, a Trumbull County grand jury decided Krafcik was only defending himself when he shot and killed Walker.
