Contract awarded for Warren bike trail connection

Warren, Ohio bike trail expansion

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The third phase of the Warren bike trail is about to get under way.

When it is complete, the trail will stretch from Lake Erie to the Ohio River.

Trumbull County commissioners awarded a contract Tuesday for nearly $1.4 million to Burton Scott Contractors of Newbury.

Work should begin soon on the 2.19-mile trail that will connect phase one and phase two of the Western Reserve Greenway Trail Project.

The new portion of the trail will begin at North River Road and end at Champion East Road.

“A lot of people utilize it for their health, for their children, some walk it, some bike it,” said Commissioner Dan Polivka. “We have some nature preserves out there, so it is definitely a nice thing for Trumbull County.”

The second phase of the Warren bike trail that stretches from Woodland Street to South Street opened in August.

New section of bike trail complete.
