New Castle man charged in teen’s rape

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) — A New Castle man is in the Lawrence County Jail on $100,000 bond after being charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl he knows.

Steven Louis Haynes, 61, of 4626 Ellwood Road, is facing one count each of felony rape, felony statutory sexual assault, felony sexual assault, felony corruption of minors and misdemeanor indecent assault. He was arraigned Tuesday and is due back in court April 23.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Haynes is accused of having non-consensual sexual intercourse with the the girl, who he knows, sometime between Feb. 15 and March 30 of last year.

The alleged assault happened at his residence.
