YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Educational Service Center announced Tuesday that it will open a new STEM academy targeting ninth and tenth graders.

This week, the Ohio STEM committee met to review applications for prospective schools in the state and the MCESC was one of seven applications accepted.

The Valley STEM+ME2 Academy will open in August 2015 to 100 students in ninth and tenth grade. The year-round school will focus on STEM as well as manufacturing and engineering, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.
