Clifford visits local libraries

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — A popular children’s book character is visiting the Valley this week.

Clifford the Big Red Dog greeted kids Wednesday at the Canfield branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. There were plenty of high-5’s and hugs from children in attendance.

His visit was party of National Library Week.

Clifford will be back in town on Thursday at the Newport branch library on Market Street at 10:30 a.m. and at the main library branch in downtown Youngstown at noon.

Clifford had his own cartoon series on PBS. The first book starring the Big Red Dog, written by Norman Bridwell, was published in 1963. Since then, nearly 80 books have been published, with the last one in 2011.
