Group celebrates Minority Health Month

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown’s Office of Minority Health spent the day celebrating Minority Health Month… With a health fair and information session that drew almost 100 people.

The goal was to get people who are on the front lines when it comes to community health together to learn about issues affecting minority communities.

Organzier Felicia Alexander said if she could get today’s participants to take home one message, it is to meet people where they are when it comes to health– and work on moving it up the priority list.

“We want them to know that April is minority health month, but more so not just April. every month.  Every day, take your health seriously. Be proactive. Get those preventative health screenings.

Today’s event was held at Stambaugh Charter Academy.

It was the fourth time the Office of  Minority Health has put on a program like this.
