SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – The State Fire Marshal is asking for the public’s assistance in nabbing an arsonist responsible for setting fire to a home in Salem.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for setting a March 15 fire at a house in the 600 block of East Third Street.

A Blue Ribbon Arson Reward sign has been posted at the address. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire.

“Information from the public is crucial to solving these kinds of cases,” said State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers. “Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire or who may have heard someone speaking about the fire with an unusual level of interest or knowledge.”

No one was injured in the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 1-330-337-7811 or the State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-589-2728.
