Sinkhole shuts down Lisbon park

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — Street crews in Lisbon shut down a village park and have a 12-foot hole to fill after the ground caved in.

A sinkhole measuring 3-feet wide and 12 feet deep opened up at the entrance of Willow Grove Park last weekend.

Street Superintendent Jim Oliver said the ground caved in after a culvert pipe rusted out and crumbled.

Oliver said crews are hoping to replace the pipe with a plastic sleeve to keep the ground secure.

The park will be closed until mid-May as repairs are being made.
