5th dies from Pennsylvania crash, 2 still critical

SOUTH BEND, Pa. (AP) – A fifth person has died a day after two cars collided on a rural western Pennsylvania highway.

Authorities say 34-year-old Kent Smith, of Elderton, died at a Pittsburgh hospital Thursday night.

The driver of the car he was in, 41-year-old Crystal Kelley, of Avonmore, was killed when a speeding vehicle containing three teenagers slid from an oncoming lane into her lane while rounding  a bend on Route 156 in South Bend Township about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kelley’s husband, 33-year-old Robert Kelley Jr., and a friend, 35-year-old Kristy Ann Schall, of Shelocta, remained in critical condition Friday.

State police says the driver of the speeding car, 19-year-old Brandon Sulava, of Apollo, was killed along with his passengers, 15-year-old Brandon Sauers, of Apollo, and 18-year-old Brieyonah Painter, of Kittanning.
