Youngstown east side fire due to electrical failure

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Investigators found an early Friday morning fire to be caused by an electrical shortage, and not suspicious as first believed, according to a Youngstown Fire Department worker.

YFD said the homeowner was at the house Thursday.

The fire broke out about 2 a.m. on Bennington Avenue, near East High Street.

Thick smoke was pouring out of the second floor when crews arrived. Flames were also shooting out of the chimney area.

Smoke from the fire heavily damaged the interior of the house.

The fire rekindled just before 4 a.m. The house is not a total loss, according to officials.
